WhatsApp Announces Its Biggest Design Change Yet

WhatsApp has unveiled its most significant design update to date, introducing a range of new customization options for chat bubbles and backgrounds.

In an official blog post, WhatsApp announced that users can now personalize the colors of their chat bubbles and conversation backgrounds to better reflect their style.

Introducing "Chat Themes"

The new feature, called "Chat Themes," allows users to choose from over 20 different colors for chat bubbles, along with 30 additional background options. WhatsApp explained that this update was implemented in response to numerous user requests for more customization options.

With this update, users can:

• Select pre-designed themes that combine chat bubbles and backgrounds
• Create custom color combinations
• Set personal photos as chat backgrounds

One important detail: chosen designs are visible only to the user who sets them, meaning that conversation partners will still see their own preferred layout.

More Control Over Chat Appearance

Users now have the ability to apply these settings globally across all chats or customize them individually for specific conversations. Additionally, channel designs can also be modified under the new update.

How to Access the New Features

The way users apply these customizations depends on their device:

• iOS users can modify chat appearances by tapping on the chat name
• Android users can access these options via the three-dot menu

For a more uniform look, the default chat theme settings can still be found under "Settings" → "Chats" on both iOS and Android.
